Let your materials stand the test of time with RUSTROL - OWATROL. This anti-rust treatment allows your materials to be more resistant, stops rust and protects them from external aggressions. To be used as an undercoat before your finishing paint, it guarantees a quality result and protects your materials from heat and humidity thanks to its protective film.
Properties
Penetrating rust inhibitor and direct rust insulator
- Penetrates to sound metal while expelling air and moisture.
- Forms an insulating and flexible protective film. Resistant to + 175°C.
Additive for oil-based paints, varnishes and stains
- Dilution: 25 % per litre as a first coat or 50 % if the surface is smooth or porous.
- Makes paints, varnishes and glycerol stains rustproof. Facilitates their application.
- Replaces thinners: does not evaporate.
- Increases the covering power of finishes.
Base for hanging on all surfaces
- Pure in first layer.
- Adheres to all smooth surfaces: glass, PVC, ferrous and non-ferrous metals...
- Allows to cover aluminium, galvanized and zinc without removing the paint.
Decorative aspect
- Preserves the rusty appearance of the supports while protecting them.
Destination
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals. (Can be applied on wood, plastic, glass...)
Oxidized to highly oxidized surfaces.
On new surfaces, use preferably RUSTOL-PRIMER paint look or RUSTOL-DÉCO.
Compatible with all air-drying varnishes, paints, lacquers and oil-bound stains (alkyds), oil-based paints, glycerophthalic paints, single-component urethanes, petroleum-based paints, greasy coatings. Can be used in combination with oil-based glazes for better impregnation of wood and protection of metal parts (hinges and fittings).
Not compatible with fast drying paints (car body type), chlorinated rubber paints or two-component paints, water-based paints (see OWATROL E-B and FLOETROL).
Recommendations before application
Check that the surface is dry and free of grease and scale.
Application
RUSTOL-OWATROL is most effective on lightly oxidised substrates as it uses the rust as a pigment to form the protective film.
To make the paints rustproof, always do a compatibility test and provide a mixture of 25 % of RUSTOL-OWATROL and 75 % of paint
To facilitate the application of the paints, in replacement of the thinners, foresee an addition of 5 % of RUSTOL-OWATROL.
